A report done for the Oregon High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area program shows illicit methamphetamine and marijuana use are on the rise.

Less meth is produced in Oregon - a direct result of Oregon's new pseudoephedrine controls put in place by the 2005 Legislature - but addiction to the drug in increasing.

The report claims Oregon's Medical Marijuana Program - which allows cancer patients and people with chronic pain to receive prescriptions from doctors to use marijuana - is a major contributor to a rise in illegal use of marijuana. Outdoor production of marijuana is also on the rise, likely a contributing factor to the availability and illegal use of the drug by Oregonians.
