Workers at Laguna Niguel roofing company tackle armed bandit
1 arrested, others escape after employees intervene.

LAGUNA NIGUEL - Employees of a roofing company being held up by a group of armed robbers tackled one of the bandits after he pulled his gun and fired, authorities said. The workers wrestled his gun away and held him until sheriff's deputies arrived, but his companions escaped.
At least three armed men burst into Norman Roofing at 27654 Forbes Road just before 3:30 p.m., said Lt. Fred Furey of the Orange County Sheriff's Department. But the workers fought back, tackling one of the gunmen.
"There was a pretty good struggle," Furey said. The other men took off in a small black SUV, Furey said.
The gunman was not immediately identified, but he is being interviewed by sheriff's investigators. Authorities have recovered the black getaway SUV and believe a second suspect will be in custody shortly, Furey said.
